Kaiser Pass Road

Kaiser Pass Road is set high, at an elevation of 2.803m (9,196ft), in the Sierra National Forest, a scenic drive through the mountains. Start from CA-168 (near Huntington Lake) to Florence Lake. Plan 1.5 hours to complete the drive without any stop. This is bear
country. Please store food properly and do not feed the bears. Bring mosquito repellant. The road is closed to vehicu he winter but open from late May through mid-November. Road is steep, hitting a 12% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. The first 5 miles of the Kaiser Pass road is a nice smooth two lanes highway; then the last 12 miles turns into a rather narrow and curvy more or less one lane road but paved.
