N-621 / Desfiladero de la Hermida Featured

The gorge of La Hermida, an amazing gorge, is located between the villages of Panes and Potes. It represents the only entrance corridor from the coast of the Bay of Biscay to the Liébana historical region, in Cantabria, through the narrow, dangerous, with innumerable twists and turns road N-621. The gorge is characterised by the verticality of its walls and the narrowing of the valley produced by the erosion of Deva River. The notable features of this landscape include the upper valley of the River Deva, and the rock erosion caused by the action of the river, creating a gorge with steep walls that line the river.
